Obložené Chlebíčky are a simple, open face sandwich style snack that are served everywhere in the Czech Republic… And not only in every restaurant but in every home as well. Chlebíčky can be made with anything your heart desires, ask any Czech and they will tell you that growing up, their mother would fix them up these little goodies whenever they were hungry out of whatever they had.
Super easy to make, and eat, they are the perfect party and holiday food. You can make them healthy, meaty, and in all kinds of styles, we’ve even seen them made with guacamole and corn chips! The two most traditional Chlebíčky you can find in restaurants and we always ate in our family is one made with potato salad, salami, a slice of pickle, and hard boiled egg on sliced french bread. The other is a mayonnaise crab meat spread with a slice of lemon on top… Mmmmm!
