The Czechs are the #1 beer drinking nation in the world, consuming the most beer per capita in the world (160 liters or 43 gallons). They have been drinking beer since at least 900 A.D.
Can this be healthy?
I have a memory of both my mother and my grandmother telling me to drink a glass of beer when I was pregnant. Beer? Really?
I’ve studied some herbology in the past and I do know that hops have many medicinal properties.
But popping open a can of Budweiser, Michelob, Miller or Coors just did not seem right to me.
Then I realized, they must be talking about Czech beer. The kind that is on tap and unpasteurized made much in the same way it’s always been made.
It’s all about the Beer Tank.
This is a technology where the beer is supplied in a rapid cool ‘blast’ chilling tank and it is forced into the sterile and non-toxic container which is located inside of stainless steel tanks. When tapped beer is extruded from a tank, the air pressure acts on the outside of the package so it does not influence the air oxidation or additional carbonation.
Because the beer is always kept at a stable temperature within ten degrees Celsius, it forgoes the preservation processes common with other cask and bottled beers. In other words, the beer retains all biological substances that have a positive impact on its taste and its medicinal properties.
This is why they told me that beer (think of the unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell type of beer) is not just beer – it is medicine and a cure for what ails you.
Now this is not an advertising gimmick. It has long been proven true that beer such as Pilsner Urquell and Prazdroj are unique among beers and specifically because of their health effects.
Medical doctors in the Czech Republic (and abroad) have confirmed that moderate consumption of such beer not only reduces stress, but also promotes blood circulation, reduces the risk of heart disease, helps to eliminate digestive problems and beneficially supports kidney function.
Everything has been confirmed by extensive research, under which regular drinkers of Prazdroj beer specifically have had significantly better results on ECG, have fewer heart problems and rarely have found myocardial infarction.
Maybe it is the kind of hops?
Saaz has a very distinctive flavour. When it is used in beer, the resultant aroma is very mild, earthy, herbal and spicy. Despite its popularity and noble pedigree, Saaz generally has a very low Alpha Acid level and is not very effective as a bittering hop. This hop is generally used for Bohemian style lagers and pilsners.
Prazdroj further reduces the formation of geriatric diseases, restores the physiological balance after loss of water and minerals, acts against gall and kidney stones, promotes bone development, growth of skin and hair. Prazdroj is unique in its health effects and its composition has a strong ability to defend against sour stomach, heartburn and acid reflux.
Treated Pilsner Urquell beer served directly from beer tanks has kept all of its biological substances and it is these which have a positive impact on its taste and medicinal properties.
It’s like taking the medicine right off the plant.
It’s good for you.
Disclaimer: I am not suggesting you forgo your doctor’s visits and choose to go on a daily regiment of beer drinking. No. Please seek the advice of your medical practitioner before making any changes to your diet.
